The year of liberty
the story of the great Irish Rebellion of 1798
by Thomas Pakenham · 1969

This is the story of the rebellion of May 1798, when a hundred thousand peasants rose in revolt against the British Government in Ireland. By the time the revolt had been put down four months later, 30,000 dead were literally rotting in heaps in a smoking and desolate countryside.
