A hole in the hedge

Fourteen-year-old Paula, who loves to cook but is afraid of being too much a homebody, has a chance to show her mettle when her parents go East for a week and she and a school friend and her younger brother help capture petty thieves and rescue the crotchety old hermit lady who lives next door.
