Göteborgs Atlet- och Idrottssällskap (meaning Gothenburg Athlete and Athletics Association), commonly referred to as GAIS or Gais, is a Swedish football club based in Gothenburg. The club is affiliated to the Göteborgs Fotbollförbund and play their home games at Gamla Ullevi. Fans also refers to the club as Grönsvart (green-black), or Makrillarna (the Mackerels) because of the traditional green and black striped shirt and white shorts.

Pripps is a former major brewery in Sweden and is now a part of Carlsberg, in which Pripps remains as a trademark. The company was based in Stockholm; their main product was Pripps Blå (Pripps blue). They also owned Ramlösa. Pripps was founded in Gothenburg by Johan Albrecht Pripp in 1828.

Feskekörka (; , also ) is a building in Gothenburg, Sweden, that formerly housed an indoor fish market. Its name is based on the building's resemblance to a neo-Gothic church. It opened on 1 November 1874, and was designed by the city architect Victor von Gegerfelt. Feskekörka is an institution in Gothenburg as well as a tourist magnet, housing one of the city's oldest trades, fishing.

Designed in the mid 19th century as the first middle-class residential district outside the bastions of the fortified heart of the city, the design of Avenyn was inspired by established formal European streets like the Champs-Élysées in Paris and the Ringstraße in Vienna. Kungsportsplatsen is a square in the city centre of Gothenburg, Sweden. The square was constructed in 1852 and got its name after the (the name literally means, King's Gate Place). The gate was the main entrance to the fortified city, which was and still is surrounded by a moat. When the city grew outside the moat and there was no need to defend the city any longer the gate was torn down.
