Ambracia
Ambracia (; , occasionally , Ampracia) was a city of ancient Greece on the site of modern Arta. It was founded by the Corinthians in 625 BC and was situated about from the Ambracian Gulf, on a bend of the navigable river Arachthos (or Aratthus), in the midst of a fertile wooded plain.

Xirovounio Municipal Unit
Xirovouni () is a former municipality in the Arta regional unit, Epirus, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Arta, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 123.634 km2. Population 2,854 (2021). The seat of the municipality was in Ammotopos.

Amvrakikos () is a former municipality in the Arta regional unit, Epirus, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Arta, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 158.885 km2. Population 3,755 (2021). The seat of the municipality was in Aneza.
Limini
Limini is a small village in northwestern Greece. It lies in the Epirus Region. It is located approximately 7 km outside Arta, where the ancient city of Ambracia once lay. In 2021, it had a population of 293.
Vonko
Vonko (fl. 1400-1401) was a "Serb-Albanian-Bulgarian-Vlach" who conquered Arta from the Shpata family in 1400, holding it until late 1401, when the Shpatas regained the town.
