Ashby-de-la-Zouch (), also spelled Ashby de la Zouch and commonly shortened to Ashby, is a market town and civil parish in the North West Leicestershire district of Leicestershire, England, near to the Derbyshire and Staffordshire borders. Its population at the 2021 census was 16,491. Ashby de la Zouch Castle was an important fort in the 15th to 17th centuries. During the 19th century, the town's main industry was ribbon manufacturing.

Markfield is a large village in both the National Forest and Charnwood Forest, in the Hinckley and Bosworth district of Leicestershire, England. The settlement dates back to at least the time of the Norman conquest and is mentioned in the Domesday Book under the name Merchenefeld. A variant of this is still used as the name for the village primary school, Mercenfeld. It is to the south-east of Junction 22 of the M1, and to the south of the A50. The name "Barwell" literally translates as "Stream of the Boar" and is said to originate from a boar that used to drink from the well near a brook in Barwell. The brook near Barwell is not the River Tweed, but rather a local stream or brook in Leicestershire, possibly feeding into the River Soar or Avon, which are tributaries of the River Trent.
