Historically in Warwickshire, Berkswell is situated in the rural east of the borough, approximately west of the western city boundary of Coventry, at Eastern Green. It is situated about west of Coventry city centre, east of central Solihull, south of Meriden and north of Balsall Common.

It is approximately 4.5 miles (7 km) east of Solihull and is located inside a large meander of the River Blythe, at the western edge of the Meriden Gap, and midway between the far larger villages of Balsall Common and Hampton-in-Arden. The nearest large city is Birmingham, away to the west. According to the 2001 UK Census, the parish had a population of 499, increasing to 533 at the 2011 Census.

Until 1998, Allesley contained the main Jaguar car assembly plant at Browns Lane.

Historically part of the county of Warwickshire in the Meriden Rural District, It lies about north of Solihull town centre, east of Birmingham and 13 miles (21km) northwest of Coventry, it borders North Warwickshire to the east. The village is encompassed within the electoral ward Kingshurst & Fordbridge which had a population of 7,868 in the 2011 census.
