Chamonix-Mont-Blanc (; ), more commonly known simply as Chamonix (), is a commune in the department in the region in Southeastern France. It was the site of the first Winter Olympics, held in 1924.

The village is best known for tourism and has been a popular holiday destination since the early 1900s. It has of pistes, the third largest domain exclusively in France, and is one of the least busy ski areas of its size. In 1892, two hundred people were killed when a water pocket in a glacier above the town suddenly burst open and caused flooding.
