Herreninsel (; old name: Herrenwörth) is a 238 hectare island in Bavaria's largest lake, Chiemsee. It is the biggest of the lake's three main islands, Fraueninsel and Krautinsel joining it to form the municipality of Chiemsee.

The island Frauenchiemsee, often called Fraueninsel (), is the second largest of the three islands in Chiemsee lake, Germany. It belongs to the municipality of Chiemsee in the Upper Bavarian district of Rosenheim, which is the smallest municipality in all of Bavaria. The large and car-free Fraueninsel houses a convent of Benedictine nuns, which is usually called , as well as 300 permanent residents.

Krautinsel
Krautinsel is an island located in Chiemsee lake. With an area of 3.5 hectares, it is the smallest of the three islands in the Chiemsee (apart from the tiny artificial island of Schalch west of Frauenchiemsee, aka Fraueninsel). The island received its name because vegetables and herbs were grown there in the Middle Ages. Politically, it belongs to the municipality of Chiemsee in the Rosenheim district.

Wilhelmstein is an artificial island with an area of in lake Steinhuder Meer, located in the Hanover Region, Northern Germany. The island was created in the 18th century as a fortification by Count William of Schaumburg-Lippe, ruler of this small German state. The man-made isle (Count Wilhelm of Schaumburg-Lippe had the island built between 1761 and 1765 for his military fortress) hosts the Wilhelmsen fortress ().
