Ellalan (; ; 235–161 BCE), also referred to as Elara the Pious, and by the honorific epithet Manu Needhi Cholan, was a member of the Tamil Chola dynasty in Southern India, who upon capturing the throne became king of the Anuradhapura Kingdom, in present-day Sri Lanka, from 205 BCE to 161 BCE.

Pandukabhaya (Sinhala: ) was a king of Upatissa Nuwara and the first monarch of the Anuradhapura Kingdom and 6th ruler of Sri Lanka since the arrival of Prince Vijaya. Pandukabhaya reigned from 437 BC to 367 BC. According to many historians and philosophers, he is considered the first truly Sri Lankan king following the Vijayan migration, and the ruler who ended the conflict between the Sinha clan and the local clans, reorganizing the population. Pandukabhaya was mentored by Pandula and Pandula's son Chandra was his advisor.

Mutasiva (, ) was ruler of the Kingdom of Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka, based at the ancient capital of Anuradhapura. He ruled from 367 BC to 307 BC. He had ten sons, some of whom were his successors such Devanampiya Tissa, Uttiya, Mahasiva, Suratissa and Asela. Mutasiva was the son of King Pandukabhaya.

Uttiya (Sinhala: උත්තිය, ) was an early monarch of Sri Lanka of the Kingdom of Anuradhapura, based at the ancient capital of Anuradhapura from 267 BC to 257 BC. As Devanampiya Tissa had no son, his brother Uttiya succeeded to the throne.

Thulatthana was an early monarch of the Kingdom of Anuradhapura, based at the ancient capital of Anuradhapura that ruled in the year 119 BC. Thulatthana was the son of Saddha Tissa and the brother of Lanja Tissa, Khallata Naga and Valagamba.

Mahasiva (Sinhala:මහාසිව) was an early monarch of Sri Lanka of the kingdom of Anuradhapura, based at the ancient capital of Anuradhapura from 257 BC to 247 BC according to historical records. Mahasiva was one of the many sons of Mutasiva and also brother of monarchs Devanampiya Tissa, Uttiya and Asela.

Dhatusena was a king of Sri Lanka who reigned from 455 to 473 AD. He was the first king of the Moriyan dynasty. In some records, he is also identified as Dasenkeli. Dhatusena reunited the country under his rule after twenty-six years of anarchy, defeating the six Dravidians that were ruling the country at that time. Dhatusena built large reservoirs and canals to augment the agriculture in the country.

Suratissa (Sinhala:සූරතිස්ස) was an early monarch of Sri Lanka in the Kingdom of Anuradhapura, based at the ancient capital of Anuradhapura from 247 BC to 237 BC. He was a son of Mutasiva and a brother of Devanampiya Tissa, Uttiya, Mahasiva, Asela and Mahanaga. Suratissa was defeated and killed in battle by two South Indian Tamil invaders Sena and Guttika who usurped the Sinhalese throne and held power over Anuradhapura. This marked the first historically recorded instance of Tamil rule in Sri Lanka. Sinhala rule was re-established in 215 BC by Suratissa's younger brother Asela.

Sirimeghavanna, also known as Kirthi Sri Meghavarnabhaya and Kithsiri Mevan was King of Anuradhapura in the 4th century. According to the traditional chronology, he ruled during 301–328 AD; the modified chronology adopted by modern scholars such as Wilhelm Geiger assigns his reign to 352–379 CE.

Vasabha (Sinhala: ) was a monarch of the Anuradhapura period of Sri Lanka. He is considered to be the pioneer of the construction of large-scale irrigation works and underground waterways in Sri Lanka to support paddy cultivation. 11 reservoirs and 12 canals were constructed during his reign. He also constructed several Buddhist temples in addition to renovating already existing ones. Vasabha started a new dynasty in the history of Sri Lankan monarchs, having seized the throne after killing Subharaja, the then ruler of Anuradhapura.
