Lichess (, ) is an Internet chess server that is free and open-source, run by a non-profit organization of the same name. Users of the site can play online chess anonymously and optionally register an account to play games to earn a rating on Lichess. Lichess is ad-free and all the features are available for free, as the site is funded by donations from patrons, who receive a special badge as thanks for their support. Features include chess puzzles, computer analysis, tournaments and chess variants.

The Cimade is a French NGO founded at the beginning of the World War II by French Protestant student groups, in particular the Christian activist and member of the French Resistance Madeleine Barot, to give assistance and support to people uprooted by war, in the first instance those who were evacuated from the French provinces of Alsace and Lorraine located on the border with Germany.
