Owaka is a small town in the Clutha District of South Otago, in the South Island of New Zealand. It is the largest community in the rugged, forested Catlins area, close to the border with Southland, some south of Balclutha on the Southern Scenic Route.

Tuatapere is a small rural town in Southland, New Zealand. It is the self declared "Sausage Capital of New Zealand". Tuatapere is located eight kilometres from the southern coast. The Waiau River flows through the town before reaching Te Waewae Bay, where it has its outflow into Foveaux Strait. The main local industries are forestry and farming.
Ōakura
Ōakura is a small township in New Plymouth District, Taranaki, in the western North Island of New Zealand. It is located on State Highway 45, 15 kilometres south-west of New Plymouth. Ōkato is 12 km further south-west. The Oakura River flows past the town and into the North Taranaki Bight. To the south is the Kaitake Range, part of Egmont National Park.

Pounawea
Pounawea is a small town in The Catlins, an area of the southern South Island of New Zealand. It is located four kilometres southwest of Owaka, at the mouth of the Catlins River. It is a popular holiday spot with a seasonal population, there are numerous cribs (holiday homes) at the settlement.

Mike Hesson
Michael James Hesson is a New Zealand cricket coach who has served as the head coach of the Pakistan national cricket team in limited-overs cricket since 2025. He served in the same capacity for the New Zealand cricket team. He also coached for the Argentina, Kenya, and Otago in New Zealand domestic cricket. He was appointed head coach of New Zealand on 20 July 2012, taking over from John Wright in August for their tour of India, and later extensions to his contract would have taken him through to the end of the 2019 Cricket World Cup, but Hesson announced his resignation on 7 June 2018, ending his tenure as one of the most successful coaches in the history of the national team. As coach, he led the New Zealand squad to finish as runners-up at the 2015 Cricket World Cup. Since 2023 he has been serving as the head coach of Pakistan Super League franchise Islamabad United. As a coach, he led them to the championship in Pakistan Super League 2024 edition.
