Hinnøya (Norwegian; ) is the fourth-largest island in Norway, and the largest outside the Svalbard archipelago. The lies just off the western coast of Northern Norway. The island sits on the border of Nordland and Troms counties. The western part of the island is in the district of Vesterålen, the southwestern part is in the Lofoten district, the southeastern part is in the Ofoten district, and the northeastern part is in Troms. , Hinnøya had a population of 32,688. The only town on the island is the town of Harstad. Some of the larger villages include Borkenes, Lødingen, Sigerfjord, and Sørvi

The island of Vestvågøya lies to the southwest and the large island of Hinnøya to the northeast. In 2017, the island had about 9,000 residents.

Raftsundet
or is a strait in Nordland county, Norway. The long strait runs between the islands of Hinnøya and Austvågøya, mostly in Hadsel Municipality, but the southern end is in Vågan Municipality. The strait is crossed by the Raftsund Bridge near the northern mouth of the strait. The Trollfjorden is a small fjord that branches off the strait to the west and it is a well-known tourist attraction. Litlmolla is an uninhabited island in Vågan Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The island lies southeast of the town of Svolvær in the Vestfjorden. The island is located in the Lofoten archipelago, south of the large island of Austvågøya, southwest of the island of Stormolla, and northeast of the small island of Skrova. The island was formerly inhabited, but has long since been abandoned. The highest point on the island is the tall Nonstinden.

Higravtindan is the tallest mountain on the island of Austvågøya in the Lofoten archipelago in Nordland county, Norway. It is located on the border of Hadsel Municipality and Vågan Municipality. The village of Laupstad and the European route E10 highway are located about west of the mountain and the village of Liland is located about southwest of the mountain. There is a glacier located on the east side of the mountain. The mountain is 1,148 m (3,766 ft) high.

Stormolla or Molla is an island in Vågan Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is located in the Lofoten islands, south of the large islands of Austvågøya and Hinnøya and northeast of the smaller islands of Litlmolla and Skrova. The highest point on the island is the tall mountain Heggedalstinden.

Digermulen is a village in Vågan Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is located on the southwestern tip of the large island of Hinnøya. It is the main village of eastern Vågan since that part of the municipality is not directly connected to the rest of the municipality (most of Vågan is on Austvågøya island). There is a long roundabout road connection through neighboring Hadsel Municipality to get to the rest of Vågan, and there is a ferry connection to the nearby island of Stormolla. Geita or Svolværgeita () is a tall pinnacle at the southwest face of the mountain Fløyfjellet on the island of Austvågøya in the Lofoten archipelago. The high Fløyfjellet is located on the edge of the town of Svolvær in Vågan Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The first recorded time a climber reached the summit of Svolværgeita was on 1 August 1910 by Ferdinand Schjelderup, Alf Bonnevie Bryn, and Carl Wilhelm Rubenson.

Laupstad is a village in Vågan Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is located on the island of Austvågøya at the end of the Austnesfjorden, about north of the village of Liland. The European route E10 highway runs through the village. The mountain Higravstindan lies about east of Laupstad and the boundary with Hadsel Municipality lies just north of the village.
Austnesfjorden
Austnesfjorden is a fjord in Vågan Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The long fjord cuts the island of Austvågøya nearly in half. On the south end, the fjord joins the Vestfjorden, just north of the town of Svolvær. The European route E10 highway runs along the western shoreline of the fjord for its entire length. The village of Laupstad lies at the innermost part of the fjord. The village of Liland and the mountain Higravstindan both lie on the eastern shore and the Sildpollneset peninsula lies on the western shore. The island of Litlmolla lies just south of the mouth of the fjord.
