Etymology: From edge + -y. Compare German eckig (“angular, edgy”).

1. Nervous, apprehensive.
2. Creatively challenging; cutting edge; leading edge.
3. On the edge between acceptable and offensive; pushing the boundaries of good taste; risqué.
