==Preparation== A method to produce high purity 2,2-dimethylpentane is to react the grignard reagent of n-propyl bromide (CH3CH2CH2MgBr) with tert-butyl chloride ((CH3)3CCl). n-PrMgCl can be used instead of the bromide.
