Alcântara is a Brazilian municipality in the state of Maranhão. The municipality has a population of 22,112 (2020) and an area of 1,458 square kilometres (563 mi). The municipality is 30 kilometres (19 mi) away from the state capital of Maranhão, São Luís, directly across the Bay of São Marcos.
