Alcest é uma banda de blackgaze formada em Avinhão, França, no ano 2000. A banda que começou como uma banda de black metal, mais tarde incorporou influências do shoegaze, mudando o seu gênero para o blackgaze, uma fusão do black metal com o shoegaze. Enquanto a banda manteve as suas raízes do black metal, a música passou a soar como outros gêneros, tais como o shoegaze e o post-rock.
