Animation is a filmmaking technique that creates the illusion of movement by displaying a sequence of still pictures in rapid succession, whether drawn by hand on celluloid sheets, created using computers, or made through stop-motion methods like claymation. It matters because it has become a recognized artistic medium within the entertainment industry that offers unique creative possibilities distinct from live-action filmmaking.
