Steinberg; July 23, 1954) is an American and former prostitute, stripper, pornographic actress, cable television host, porn magazine editor, writer and sex film producer. She received a BFA in photography from the School of Visual Arts in 1986 and earned a (non-accredited) degree in human sexuality from the (California accredited) Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality in San Francisco in 1992. Annie Sprinkle was a prostitute and porn star for twenty years, then became an internationally acclaimed performance artist and sex educator. She has authored five books, and produced and starred in her own brand of feminist “post porn” films. Sprinkle is currently a popular visiting artist lecturer at colleges and universities. She has a Ph.D. in human sexuality making her the first porn star to earn a Ph.D.. She has toured five different one-woman theater pieces about her life to nineteen countries. Currently she is collaborating with her life partner, artist Elizabeth Stephens, in their Love Art Laboratory. Together they are touring their new two-woman show, Dirty Sexecology—25 Ways to Make Love to the Earth. Today Annie Sprinkle is an out “ecosexual.” ˙
