greeka.com →The Archaeological Museum of Kythira is located near the central square of Chora. It started operating in 1981 and was open to visitors until January 2006, when a strong earthquake damaged the building that housed it. The building was evacuated and work began in 2013. Finally, on 8 May 2016, the museum began welcoming people again, renovated and with a renewed exhibition. The museum consists of two rooms, which house all the exhibits of the collection. The modern infrastructure includes Braille inscriptions, disabled-friendly spaces and elite internet access. The museum is also showing an animated film entitled "I am the Lion of Kythira", which tells the story of the museum's most impressive exhibit in an interesting and interactive way. The archaeological museum is located at the very entrance to Chora, on the left, so you cannot miss it. It is very small but very informative and fully equipped with interactive touch screens, films and descriptions, everything provided in English as well. Very nice experience.
