Friedrich August Bungert (14 March 1845 – 26 October 1915) was a German opera composer and poet, born in Mühlheim a. d. Ruhr. He was best known for his monumental opera cycles based on Greek mythology - the "Homeric World", a four-part opera cycle that musically interprets the Greek epics Iliad and Odyssey by Homer. Bungert also composed a variety of songs. Many of his pieces are based on his own texts or poems inspired by classical and romantic themes. <a href="https://www.last.fm/music/Augu
