William Tarmey (born William Cleworth-Piddington on April 4, 1941 - November 9, 2012) in Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire) is an English actor and singer best known for playing Jack Duckworth on the soap opera Coronation Street, a role he has played on a continuous basis since 1983. It was announced on 4 August that William has renewed his contract to stay on Coronation Street till Autumn 2007.
