Boulder liegt etwa 45 km nordwestlich von Denver. Das U.S. Census Bureau hat bei der Volkszählung 2020 eine Einwohnerzahl von 108.250 ermittelt. Boulder ist die größte Stadt im County und die achtgrößte Stadt in Colorado. Die University of Colorado at Boulder ist die bedeutendste Universität des Universitätensystems von Colorado und eine der sog. Public Ivies der USA sowie der wichtigste Arbeitgeber der Stadt.
