Brian James was a punk rock musician, best known as the original guitarist for The Damned and The Lords Of The New Church. His first bands were the proto-punk London SS and Bastard. Some of the influences of Bastard's on stage appearance would surface later when James moved on to what would prove to be another pioneering punk band; The Damned, recording on their first two albums Damned, Damned, Damned and Music for Pleasure before leaving.
