Encyclopedic overview
An eponym is a person, place, or thing after whom or after which something is named, or believed to be named. Since many medical conditions, sports moves, bridge and chess techniques, buildings, prizes, and other things have been named after people, these are not included in this category, as categorization on the basis of having been named for a person is considered to be overcategorization based on trivial aspects of the article.
