Cephalomanes is een geslacht met ongeveer 30 soorten varens uit de vliesvarenfamilie (Hymenophyllaceae). Het zijn kleine tot middelgrote epifytische en lithofytische varens uit equatoriale en tropische streken van Azië en de Stille Oceaan. Kenmerken C. atrovirens, detail sporenhoopje Cephalomanes zijn kleine tot middelgrote overblijvende varens met korte, dikke tot lange, kruipende behaarde rizomen en talrijke, stevige wortels. De bladen zijn slechts enkelvoudig geveerd. De sporenhoopjes zitten op de nerven op de top van de blaadjes, en dragen kopvormige dekvliesjes met een receptaculum, een haarvormig uitgroeisel van het sporenhoopje, dat als een borsteltje boven het dekvliesje uit steekt. The Pteridophyte Phylogeny Group classification of 2016 (PPG I) accepts the genus, placing it in the subfamily Trichomanoideae, and saying that there are four species. , the Checklist of Ferns and Lycophytes of the World lists nine species, whereas Plants of the World Online sinks the genus into Trichomanes.
