Charles Le Roy

Charles Le Roy was a French physician, chemist, and university teacher born in Paris in 1726. He was educated at the Faculty of Medicine of Montpellier and worked at the University of Montpellier and the Paris Medical Faculty. His professional interests included medicine, chemistry, and encyclopedia work. He was a member of the Royal Society and the French Academy of Sciences.

Le Roy wrote in French and Latin. His notable works include *Traité de l'orthographe Française en Forme de Dictionnaire*, *Traité de l'orthographe Françoise, en Forme de Dictionnaire*, and *A grammar of the French language*. He died in Paris in 1779. He was the son of Julien Le Roy and had siblings Jean Baptiste Le Roy, Pierre Le Roy, and Julien-David Le Roy.
