Chindesaurus

It is known from a single species, C. bryansmalli, based on a partial skeleton recovered from Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona. The original specimen was nicknamed "Gertie", and generated much publicity for the park upon its discovery in 1984 and airlift out of the park in 1985. Chindesaurus bryansmalli ("lagarto fantasma o espíritu maligno de Bryan Small.") es la única especie conocida del género extinto Chindesaurus de dinosaurios saurisquio herrerasáurido que vivió a finales del período Triásico, hace aproximadamente entre 228 a 208 millones de años, en el Carniense y el Noriense, en lo que es hoy Norteamérica.
