Das Gefieder wird bei den Cinclosoma-Arten von Erdtönen und bei Ptilorrhoa-Arten von Blautönen dominiert, mit einer kontrastierenden schwarz-weißen und grauen Musterung im Gesicht und oft auch an der Oberseite. Die kurzen Flügel sind gerundet. Der lange Schwanz ist abgestuft und gerundet. Die Unterschwanzdecken sind lang, insbesondere bei Cinclosoma. Der mittelgroße Körper ist länglich zylindrisch eiförmig. Der mittellange Schnabel ist gerade und dünn. Der Kopf ist klein, der Hals ist mittellang. Die Beine und die Füße sind kurz, dick bei Cinclosoma und dünner bei Ptilorrhoa. Cinclosomatidae is a family of passerine birds native to Australia and New Guinea. It has a complicated taxonomic history and different authors vary in which birds they include in the family. It includes the quail-thrushes and jewel-babblers.
==Taxonomy== The quail-thrushes, jewel-babblers, whipbirds and wedgebills were traditionally included with the logrunners (Orthonyx) in the family Orthonychidae. Sometimes the Malaysian rail-babbler and blue-capped ifrit (Ifrita kowaldi) were also included in the family. In 1985, Sibley and Ahlquist found that the logrunners were not related to the others and included only the logrunners in the Orthonychidae. They treated the others as the subfamily Cinclosomatinae within their expanded family Corvidae.
