Eine Krypta (altgriechisch κρύπτη krýptē, deutsch ‚verborgener Gang, Gewölbe, Gruft‘), manchmal auch als Unterkirche bezeichnet, ist ein unter dem Chor (Apsis) oder unterhalb des Altars christlicher Kirchen befindlicher Raum, der in der Regel für Heiligengräber (auch Reliquienschreine) und Altäre diente.
