He graduated from Stuyvesant High School in 1983 and Brown University in 1987, and holds an M.A. in Creative Writing from Johns Hopkins University. Lipsky is a contributing editor at Rolling Stone Magazine. He received a National Magazine Award for writing about David Foster Wallace in 2009. He currently lives in New York City.
