Dolomedes

捕魚蛛（學名：Dolomedes）是盜蛛科的一個屬，又稱食魚蜘蛛、狡蛛、跑蛛等。生活在淡水域邊，雖然牠們因擅長捕魚而得名，但其實牠們也會捉其他水生小動物食用。差不多所有捕魚蛛都是半水棲動物，目前只知有2個種並不是水陸兩棲： 住在樹上的D. albineus：分佈於美國西南部； 草原品種D. minor：分佈於紐西蘭。 捕魚蛛通常不會用蜘蛛絲來捕食，反而是用它把卵載著，作用就好像育嬰室。雌性蜘蛛只須花很少時間便可以製造網，載著卵到處走動。而北美洲的捕魚蛛，甚至會留在網中一個星期。

Dolomedes is a genus of large spiders of the family Dolomedidae. They are also known as fishing spiders, raft spiders, dock spiders or wharf spiders. Almost all Dolomedes species are semiaquatic, with the exception of the tree-dwelling D. albineus of the southeastern United States. Many species have a striking pale stripe down each side of the body.
They hunt by waiting at the edge of a pool or stream, then when they detect the ripples from prey, they run across the surface to subdue it using their foremost legs, which are tipped with small claws; then injecting venom with their hollow chelicerae to kill and digest the prey. They mainly eat insects, but some larger species are able to catch small fish. They can also climb beneath the water, when they become encased in a silvery film of air. "Dolomedes" is derived from the Greek word which means wily, deceitful.
