Down Beat

Down Beat è una rivista statunitense dedicata alla musica jazz, nata a Chicago nel 1934. Il nome nasce dalla espressione inglese "downbeat" che ha diversi significati in musica, tra cui "un " inteso come tempo nel ritmo musicale. Down Beat pubblica i risultati di una serie di sondaggi in varie categorie, e la Down Beat Jazz Hall of Fame raccoglie tutti i primi posti nella classifica sia dei lettori (pubblicata nel numero di dicembre) che di critici specializzati (pubblicata nel numero di agosto). Una nota rubrica del giornale è il "Blindfold Test" (il test a occhi bendati inventato da Leonard Feather), in cui un musicista ascolta registrazioni di un altro musicista e cerca di indovinare di chi si tratti.
