Eldoret is 323 km from Nairobi, 114 km from Kisumu, and 126 km from Nakuru. From Eldoret to the Uganda border at Malaba is 127 km.
Easy Coach has buses to Nairobi. There are also bus lines which go from Eldoret to Kampala, Uganda. There are matutus, privately owned vehicles frequently mini-buses, to Nakuru, Nyahururu, Kitale, and Kisumu. An 11-seat van from Eldoret to Nairobi costs Ksh 1000 and takes 6 hours. An 11-seat van from Eldoret to Malaba on the Kenya/Uganda border costs Ksh 500 and takes 3 hours.
The railway network in Western Kenya is under rehabilitation and passenger trains from Nairobi are expected to return in late 2024 or early 2025. Travel times are expected to be quite long as the 100 year old network meanders through the landscape.

Eldoret is a city in the Rift Valley region of Kenya. It serves as the capital of Uasin Gishu County. Located in western Kenya and lying south of the Cherang'any Hills, the local elevation varies from about at the Eldoret International Airport to more than in nearby areas.
As per the 2019 population census, Eldoret has a population of 475,716 people and is the fifth most populated urban area in the country after Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru and Ruiru.
