The Fairlington Historical Society (FHS) is an organization of Fairlingtonians, present and past, devoted to preserving the unique legacy of the community. The Arlington Historical Society is collecting donations for additional Stumbling Stones, including in Fairlington. The Stumbling Stones will be dedicated to two individuals who were enslaved in Fairlington. Sit-ins at Shirlington department store lunch counters helped pave the way for integrated dining in Arlington. Fairlington resident Amina Luqman-Dawson won a Newbery Award for her debut novel, Freewater. The Fairlington Historical Society is excited to announce the results of our Holiday Display Contest. At Morven, the farm on the land that became Fairlington, slavery was widespread for generations.
