== Origin == The origins of Gondioc are unclear. According to the Frankish bishop Gregory of Tours, he was descended from the Gothic king Athanaric († 381), which historian Reinhold Kaiser rejects in light of the royal list and the internal name-patterns of the Burgundian royal family. To this end, it is more likely that he was a son or close relative of King Gundahar, as indicated in the Lex Burgundionum.
