Henri Becquerel

Antoine Henri Becquerel was a French physicist, engineer, and university teacher born in Paris in 1852. He worked in the fields of physics and chemistry and was employed by the École polytechnique, the Muséum national d'histoire naturelle, and the École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées. He held academic degrees including a Bachelor of Science and a Doctor of Science.

Becquerel received the Nobel Prize in Physics, the Helmholtz Medal, and the Officer and Knight ranks of the Legion of Honour. He was a member of the Royal Society, the Société Philomathique de Paris, the French Academy of Sciences, and the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei. His works are recognized in the Royal Society collection and the Nobel Laureates and Nobel Physics collections.

He was educated at the Lycée Louis-le-Grand, the École polytechnique, and the École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées. He spoke and wrote in French. His father was Edmond Becquerel and his child was Jean Becquerel. He died in 1908.
