Hermann Nitsch (Vienna, 29 August 1938 – Mistelbach, 18 April 2022) was an Austrian artist who worked in experimental and multimedia modes. Nitsch received training in painting during the time he studied at the Wiener Graphische Lehr-und Versuchanstalt. He is called an "actionist" or a performance artist.
