Hidalgo [iˈðalɣo], offiziell Freier und Souveräner Staat Hidalgo (spanisch Estado Libre y Soberano de Hidalgo), ist ein zentraler Bundesstaat Mexikos, welcher 1869 gebildet wurde und nördlich der Hauptstadt gelegen ist. Er ist benannt nach Miguel Hidalgo, der mit seiner Ansprache Grito de Dolores den Unabhängigkeitskampf Mexikos initiiert hatte. Er hat eine Fläche von 20.813 km² und ca. 2,6 Mio. Einwohner. Hauptstadt ist Pachuca de Soto.
