John Mervyn Addison (16 March 1920 – 7 December 1998) was a British composer best known for his film scores. Addison was born in Chobham, Surrey to a father who was a colonel in the British Army, and this influenced his choice of education at the Wellington College, Berkshire as a child. At the age of sixteen entered the Royal College of Music. He studied composition with Gordon Jacob, oboe with Léon Goossens, and clarinet with Frederick Thurston. <a href="https://www.last.fm/music/John+Addison
