KaOS is an independent Linux distribution built around the latest version of the KDE Plasma desktop environment. It includes LibreOffice and other popular software applications based on the Qt software development toolkit.

== History == Initial prerelease development work on the project took place under the provisional codename "KdeOS" from May to August 2013. To prevent confusion between the distribution's name and the KDE desktop environment, the name was changed to "KaOS" in September 2013.
