Káraný is a municipality and village in Prague-East District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 800 inhabitants.

==Etymology== Káraný was originally name of a forest in which game hunting and tree cutting were "severely punished" (in old Czech káráno). The name was then transferred to the settlement.
