Kinney is a city in Saint Louis County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 152 at the time of the 2020 census. It is best known for having "seceded" from the United States in 1977 and establishing the "Republic of Kinney". Originally a publicity stunt to draw attention to underfunding of municipal projects in the area, the "Republic of Kinney" remained a part of the civic identity of Kinney for decades afterwards.
