Levko Lukianenko

Levko Lukianenko was a Soviet Union and Ukrainian diplomat, human rights defender, writer, and politician. He served as a People's Deputy of Ukraine and was a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and the Republican Platform. Educated at the Faculty of Law of Moscow State University, he was convicted of anti-Soviet agitation. His notable works include *Virui︠u︡ v Boha i v Ukraïnu*, *Do istoriï Ukraïnsʹkoï Helʹsynsʹkoï spilky*, *Tut miĭ dukh*, *Lysty politv'i︠a︡zniv*, and *Shli︠a︡kh do vidrodz︠h︡enni︠a︡*.

Lukianenko received the Order of Liberty, the Honored badge of merit of the President of Ukraine, the medal of 25 years of Ukrainian independence, and the Shevchenko National Prize. He was born in Khrypivka and spoke Ukrainian. He died of a stroke at Feofaniya Clinical Hospital on July 7, 2018, due to natural causes. He is buried at Baikove Cemetery.
