Medea (Slovene: Medeja; Friulian: Migjea or Migjee; German: Mödan) is a comune (municipality) in the Regional decentralization entity of Gorizia in the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 45 kilometres (28 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 15 kilometres (9 mi) west of Gorizia. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 918 and an area of 7.3 square kilometres (2.8 mi).
The municipality of Medea contains the frazioni (boroughs) Ara Pacis, Monte di Medea, and Sant’Antonio.
