Born and raised in Muswell Hill, London, he is half Canadian/Hungarian and educated at Arnold House before attending public school. His father was Ray Cameron, who wrote with Barry Cryer for Kenny Everett. Cameron and Michael's mother were divorced when Michael was seven, and ten years later, Cameron (who had emigrated to the USA) suddenly died of a heart attack when McIntyre was 17.
