Michael James Way was born on September 10, 1980, in Newark, New Jersey. He is currently the bassist in punk-post-hardcore rock band My Chemical Romance. He grew up in Belleville, New Jersey alongside his older brother Gerard Way. He notably coined My Chemical Romance's name after being inspired by the Irvine Welsh book, "Ecstasy: Three Tales of Chemical Romance", while working at a Barnes and Noble book store.
