== Discovery and naming == The generic name "Nemicolopterus" comes from the following Ancient Greek words: "Nemos" meaning "forest", "ikolos" meaning "dweller", and "pteron" meaning "wing". The specific name crypticus is from "kryptos", meaning "hidden". Thus "Nemicolopterus crypticus" means "Hidden flying forest dweller".
