urbanrail.net →Trillium Line The original O-Train, now the Trillium Line (or Line 2) was an 8 km light rail line, since upgrading in 2015 operated with six Coradia Lint 41 DMUs from Alstom on an old railway line between Bayview and Greenboro, with a train every 10-12 minutes. As approved in March 2019, the Trillium Line was extended south from Greenboro to Riverside South, with a branch to Macdonald-Cartier International Airport, adding 16 km and 6 stations (plus two on existing line). To allow for this extension, the line was out of service from 2 May 2020 until 6 Jan 2025! As the line continues to be operated with diesel-powered trains, the fleet was enhanced with new FLIRT DMUs from Stadler, leaving the Coradia Lint 41 DMUs for the Line 4 Airport Shuttle. The O-Train is an urban rail transit system in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, operated by OC Transpo. The O-Train system consists of three lines, all of which are fully grade-separated. As of March 2025, one line is currently being extended and a new line will be added as part of the Stage 2 project, with new segments being phased in between 2026 and 2027.
The O-Train network currently operates one light rail line, Line 1, and two diesel light rail lines, Line 2 and Line 4. Line 1 travels in a 2.8 km tunnel in the downtown core, and the rest of the network continues to operate grade-separated on surface-level, trenched, or elevated tracks.
