Als Objektivismus bezeichnete die russisch-amerikanische Schriftstellerin Ayn Rand (1905–1982) die von ihr entwickelte Weltanschauung. Ihre philosophische Aktivität erreichte ihren Höhepunkt mit dem Roman Atlas Shrugged (deutsch: Atlas wirft die Welt ab bzw. Wer ist John Galt? bzw. Der Streik) 1958 und in den zwei darauf folgenden Jahrzehnten.
