Oswald Külpe

Oswald Külpe (1862–1915) was a psychologist, philosopher, university teacher, and author from the Russian Empire. Born in Kandava, he was educated at Liepāja Gymnasium and Leipzig University. His career included positions at the University of Würzburg, the University of Bonn, and Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. He worked in Würzburg, Bonn, and Munich, and died in Munich.

Külpe studied under Wilhelm Wundt and Max Heinze. His students included Ernst Bloch and Narziß Ach. He was interested in philosophy and wrote works such as *Vorlesungen über Psychologie*, *Der Gegenwärtige Stand der experimentellen Ästhetik*, and *Erkenntnistheorie und Naturwissenschaft*. He also edited *Einleitung in die Philosophie* with August Messer. His writings are described in the Nordisk familjebok, and his archives are held at the Bavarian State Library.
